Hello!

My name is Cam Liu. I am a wife, mother of 3 rambunctious beautiful boys, a registered nurse, and a certified Marquette Method of NFP Instructor. My parents immigrated to Dallas, Texas from Vietnam when I was 4 years old, and we have been Texans since! Currently, we reside in Arlington, Texas.

Marquette Method instructors are required to be health-care professionals. My educational background includes a B.S. in Molecular Biology from University of Texas- Arlington in 2011 and then BS in Nursing from University of Houston in 2015. My specialty was in surgery where I was a full-time post-anesthesia recovery nurse before staying home with our boys.

While I grew up Catholic, we did not speak about NFP or sexual fertility in the family. So, I knew little about NFP, and even brushed off NFP as a complicated archaic method.

Despite its side effects, I used hormonal birth control pills and thought it was the best way for me to avoid pregnancy. When I married in the Catholic Church, and the children started coming, my husband and I wanted to find a method of contraception that aligns with our faith. We were introduced to the Sympto-Thermal method of NFP in marriage prep class. I remember walking out of marriage prep class feeling confused and frustrated. For the longest time, I thought tracking cervical mucus, and/or temperature was the only method of NFP.  There were days in which I felt NFP was not going to work for us and abstinence was not easy.  Instead of giving in to the conventional birth control methods, we surrendered our doubts, sadness, and insecurities to God.

I learned about the Marquette Method through a friend. Being a skeptic at heart, I was curious about the science behind the Marquette Method. My initial introduction class, I was impressed with the method’s simplicity, natural-ness, and efficacy rates. I knew then that this was the method for me because of how objective it was. I liked how this method works regardless of health history or age and that the Marquette Method Institute continuously aim to provide evidence-based research to support Natural Family Planning.

I want to be a Marquette Method instructor because I understand the challenges when it comes to family planning and living out our faith. I believe that quality instructors are god’s hands and feet and that every woman should be empowered by the knowledge of their own body. The Marquette Method has helped me with knowing about my body better, it has also helped me with a deepening of my faith, and to learn to put into God’s hands, the situations I cannot control.

I never thought I would use my nursing degree to be a Marquette Method Instructor, but God works in mysterious ways. After implementing the method in our marriage and knowing how well it worked for our family plans, I just want to share this peace and joy to others.

I consider it an honor to be trusted with all the intimate details of your reproductive health and to accompany you on your fertility journey.
