What’s the difference between the Marquette Method and other NFP methods?

The Marquette Method has truly modernized NFP as it involves the use of technology to identify ovulation and fertility.  Most NFP methods encourage users to observe biological markers of fertility, such as cervical mucus and basal body temperature in order to determine fertility.  This requires you to determine fertility based on your own subjective observations.  The Marquette Method is known for using an electronic hormone monitor, the Clearblue Fertility Monitor, to observe levels of fertility hormones in your urine.  The use of the monitor to determine the fertility hormone measurements is a more objective measurement of true fertility that is both simple and precise!
The monitor provides users with a level of fertility (low, high, or peak) based on the hormone levels present in a single, first-morning urine sample.  The fertility hormone measurements are then coupled with an algorithm to determine the fertile and infertile times each cycle so that couples may avoid or achieve pregnancy successfully.  Additional observations are not required with the Marquette Model of NFP.  One urine test, once a day is often enough!

How long do I have access to the course?

Once you purchase your package, you will be granted access to the self-paced course and documents within 24 hours. You have access to the course for the duration of the package you chose. The first few sessions are designed to get you started charting right away, and those can be completed in one evening.

Is follow-up included?

Your course session includes access to unlimited email and messaging as needed for that duration. Please do send a chart with questions to help with quicker replies. Email is preferred for communication; texts are also an option during central daytime hours. Expect email responses within 2 business days, but often within 24 hours on regular weekdays. Emails are triaged during vacation times. Urgent emails will be responded to ASAP while non-urgent email responses will occur once Cam is back from vacation.

What if I am Postpartum/Breastfeeding?

We have a course specifically for you! If you have previously learned the Marquette Method for regular cycles you can purchase just the Breastfeeding course. If this is your FIRST time officially learning Marquette, you will want to purchase the bundled course of regular and post-partum courses. Purchase of the post-partum breast/feeding course also comes with unlimited email and messaging follow-ups and is included with your course fee.

Do I need to purchase supplies before the first class?

No, you do not need to purchase anything before first class. However, if you are sure you want to do hormone testing with the method, you can go ahead and purchase the Clearblue Fertility Monitor, and Test Strips. You can get the monitor set up according to the instructions when your next cycle begins.

What do I need to get started?

It all depends on which biological signs you plan to observe and record while using the Marquette Method. For more information on start-up supplies and where to begin, visit the NFP Products page !

Can I use an older model of the ClearBlue Monitor?

Yes, the older “original” model can also be used. Many clients find the newer model is often cheaper, easier to find, and easier to use.

Can I learn to use the Mira monitor with this course?

We can incorporate the Mira monitor into your instruction, however AgapeNFP does not have an on-demand course available at this time. The Mira monitor currently does not have any research studies showing how effective it is to help you avoid pregnancy, however we do have comparison studies that show that the Estrogen and LH results line up with ovulation and have provisional protocols that can be incorporated with it's use. The Mira monitor is typically only recommended in situations where the Clearblue Fertility monitor does not work well for a user. If you have further questions, please contact Cam, to see if the Mira is right for you.
